The English Premier League goes by many names, including the Barclays English Premier League, the Barclays Premiership and even just The Premiership. However, to any fan of the English Premier League, the names all mean one thing and one thing alone – a collaboration of the most elite and professional of football teams in England.
Unfortunately, football had gone through a particularly rough patch in the 1980’s and the sport and its players were often ridiculed. However, after the English had done extremely well in the FIFA World Cup in 1990, football became more and more popular, leading up to the formation of the English Premier League in the year 1992. Since then, it has become the most watched sporting event in the world. If you haven’t already, now is the time to watch English Premier League live!
The 2007 season has been one of the most exciting seasons yet for the English Premier League, and as many fans will agree with, it can only get better from here. Right now, three English teams have made it to the semi-finals (also known as the Champions League semi-finals), including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez put it into perfect perspective when he said, “To see three English teams at this stage shows just how strong the Premier League is. It is really important for the Premier League to show Europe how strong we are. It is the best league in Europe at this moment.”
Some of the top players in the English Premier League today include Christiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney for Manchester United with Index Scores of 559 and 540, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard for Chelsea with Index Scores of 550 and 534 as well as Steve Finnan and Steven Gerrard for Liverpool with Index Scores of 437 and 417. Of course, anyone can see that the three top English teams sport some of the most talented and high-scoring football players of all time!
The top five goalkeepers in the English Premier League include Edwin Van Der Sar, Marcus Hahnemann, David James, Jose Reina and Tim Howard while the top five defenders in the English Premier League include Rio Ferdinand, Steve Finnan, Gary Neville, Ricardo Carvalho and Nemanja Vidic. Six of these ten players play for either Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United.
I want to check out the latest English Premier League picks.
